Oregon Truffle Tryst - Camping

We had wanted to offer camping as a way to bring in a few dollars to help with our attempt to grow, process and sell tea in our unique forest setting. Apparently Lincoln County frowns upon people enjoying themselves in our neck of the woods. We received an official 'Cease and Desist' order from the sheriff/deputy (Nottingham? Is there a Nottingham in Lincoln County????). It seems we need a special use permit from the County (and I'm sure a significant portion of any proceeds needs to be given to those County money grubbers) before we can charge anyone for camping here. We have not yet even looked into what kind of nightmare cost and construction upgrades scenarios the County might require (some medical issues intervened), but below is the info we were providing to 'would-be' campers. If you have any intetrest in camping here, let us know. We can't, of course, charge you for caming here, but we almost always welcome family and friends who drop by and stay for a bit. Oh, and ignore the Reservation links, just contact us directly (Here).

Camping: Available for $4.25 per person, for three or more.
Camping is available over several large areas on the property for $6 for an individual, $5 per person for two, and $4.25 per person for three or more per night. The "truffle tree" area is suitable for hammocks. Arrival time is generally after 2PM. Departure time is generally by Noon. Please note that normal trail etiquette is required, meaning if you pack it in, please pack it out. Restroom trash cans are for paper ONLY. We do not have garbage service and it would be both expensive and time consuming to make regular trash runs to nearby towns. Your cooperation is appreciated! A number of basic camp chairs and one, or possibly two, picnic tables are available.

Restrooms: Moderately 'fancy' restrooms (at least for a forest area) are included.
One restroom is ADA compliant inside. It includes a flush toilet, sink and shower. The second restroom includes only a toilet and sink. Both restrooms are heated, flush toilets, and of course, have hot water. Please note, again, restroom trash cans are for paper ONLY. We do not have garbage service and it would be both expensive and time consuming to make regular trash runs to nearby towns. Your cooperation is appreciated!

Showers: Available for $5 per person ($10 / person if not camping).
The ADA compliant restroom has a hot water shower that is available if you are camping, for an additional $5 per person. If not camping, it is $10 per person. The shower price includes a towel and wash cloth, if needed. A hamper is provided for the used towels. A bulk container of body/hair wash is in the shower. Shower times are not scheduled, so easy availability is dependent on the number of campers using the facilities on any given day. Note that a second restroom is available when the shower is in use.

Toiletry Packs: Are planned to be available in the near future for $2.75 per person.
There is usually a bulk dispenser of body and hair soap left in the shower area for everyones use. A toiletry pack, at $2.75 per person, may be, or will be available that consists of a single use shampoo, rinse, and cold process homemade soap. Note that we hope to provide the shampoo and rinse in temporary cardboard tubes for sustainability (but that will eventually soak through). They can be rinsed and disposed of in the restroom paper trash can.

Other Services: Wifi, Electric, Fridge, Hotplate.
A moderately high speed wifi guest connection is available 24/7 free of charge. We have an electric outlet in one restroom for any use, one in the field only for light use such as charging devices, and an outlet in the lower barn room for any use. We also currently have both a fridge and a hotplate in the barn lower room that is available without additional charge.

Optional Services: May conditionally be available.
Our barn is not open to the public due to the many hazards that may be too numerous for which to offer complete safety warnings (and stacked with project materials). In the off season or shoulder seasons we may have a radient electric heater available for a small additional fee, or may be able to provide firewood for a small additional fee (no fires during the dry season). We currently have a small hoop house (10' x 20') that may be used in wet weather, but is not large enough for more than one party.

You MAY not need to make a reservation to stay with us, but here are a few reasons why you should do so.

THIS will link to a few pics of the restrooms, some of the fields and wooded areas for camping, along with links to other areas of our farm website.

PLEASE NOTE: Open fires are generally NOT PERMITTED at any time between June 1st and November 1st due to forest fire danger. Exceptions amy be made if fires are not banned during that period. Propane fire pits are always permitted.

Optional Services Coming?

We will, hopefully, have more improvements in the future. The timeframe depends on the economy which is not looking real good at the moment.
