Vermouth, Mead and Chocolate Truffles

    Our first vermouth ...



We want to keep adding interesting items to our property and it's offerings in the future. Some of that may hopefully include very unique drinks. Naturally that will take a lot of experimentation, but with that in mind we started out first vermouth.


And, since we had bought five gallons of honey last year and didn't use all of it for it's original purpose, we decided to try a few experiments with mead as well. Of course, our first batch was the one that is claimed to be the simplest, most fool-proof recipe available, which seemed to be Joe's Ancient Orange Mead ... so that's what we are trying :-).

I really like chocolate truffles ... what's not to like? And although ninety percent of them are quite good, I haven't found that one special combination that I would like to call my own. I know I'm looking for a very spicy, maybe a bit hot flavor but I'm not quite sure what I want beyond that. I've also tried a number of chocolate bars that get close, but again, not quite mine. So, even more experimentation.

This is one of my first batches that includes a fair amount of ginger, jalapeno, citris and pepper. It is pretty good! But again, not the one I want to call mine. So ... more experiments ...
