Mulberries, Clones, Radios

My honey got me an aeroponic cloning chamber to play with, so I started out trying to clone our single surviving “Kiowa” blackberry plant. They originated at the University of Arkansas in 1983. Very large berries with a distinctively different taste from either our Himalayan blackberry or out native blackberries. The surviving plant is over ten years old. The others started with this one died off. This one barely grew, with only a handful of small, short vines and little or no blackberries. Then, suddenly, last year it took off with ten foot vies and a large number of berries. It looks to do as well or better this year, even with the elk ripping out numerous branches as it is intertwined with our orchard fence.
This is a picture of one of the mulberry tree starts I showed you budding out in January. The berries are coming on.
This is a pic of the corner of the orchard where our blueberries live. The heirloom apple tree on the right is old, with the entire center of the trunk hollowed out. The top of the large branch on the left of the tree broke and toppled into the blueberries, taking the fence with it. I just did manage to cut out all of the broken fence, remove all of the weeds, grass and blackberries that were growing up in between the blueberry plants. It will take twice as much effort to keep it clear through the growing season. I guess we'll see how energetic I am this summer .
Always a new project. The "moon & stars" twinkle-type lights on our porch quit working. They have a solar cell to recharge the battery to run them overnight; however, there isn't enough daylight or sun out here to do the job in the winter. I've been charging them manually each day for months! I found a wire had broken loose from the circuit board leading to the battery and re-soldered it ... just to make sure I didn't run out of daily chores to keep me busy .
This mess on my desk is my attempt to replace the sensors on our property with LoRa radio powered sensors. The two radios in the lower left (one transmitter, one receiver) each contain a microprocessor along with the radio, allowing them to be programmed. They are very long range (tests of over 100 miles with clear line of sight have been documented) but can only send small amounts of info, like a short text. However, they are ideal for sensors that just need to send an on/off signal, or a temperature, rainfall amount, etc. They can also run several months, to several years on a small rechargeable battery.
