Barn, Truffles, Freeze Protection

I originally had plans to add a screened-in platform to the end of the barn which would also provide a covered area outside the end doors. It is still an idea that I haven't completely discarded, so I replaced the "temporary" end cover to keep the rain out.
We did find a couple more truffles this year with the help of my daughter's small dog.
With a forecast of some overnight freezing temperatures, we decided to keep the tea seedlings in place, cover them and place a small heater underneath. A temperature sensor in the seedling canopy turns on the heater when needed.
The orchard fence that was damaged by the fallen apple tree limb is still a problem. Piling up a gate, a pallet and old pipes were not a deterrent to the elk wanting into that space as they pushed against it and jumped over it. I was going to replace the entire perimeter fence, but it turns out that that the elk now know they can jump that fence and I've seen them just a section that was almost the full six feet high. Replacing with another six foot field fence likely will no longer be adequate. So I'm considering adding a two foot section of fence above the existing fence to bring it up to over seven feet. And, possibly, I may install one of our old electric fences around the perimeter just outside the field fence to attempt to stop the elk from pushing against the field fence. I've watched them on camera and saw them do this a number of times as they tested just how sturdy was the barrier.
