Mushies, Apples, Tea, Chanterelles

With still more ripe apples on the tree, I decided to attempt to dry some using the salt method to keep them from turning colors while drying, and seal them in vacuumed mason jars. The idea is that they will remain crisp in the mason jars for a much longer period of time than if I just tossed them in a bottle. I can then open a bottle, mist them, add the spices or flavoring I want, re-dry them and re-store them. That way, we can try various flavorings without flavoring too many at one time that we may not like as well as others. I'll let you know how that goes when I get to that point.

We also got another set of bags pasteurized and inoculated and set in the grow room.

I set the frost cloth over the protected bed of small tea plants for protection. It fits well enough to prevent frost on the leaves. The center pic is the remaining tea plants in tubes that will need protection from freezing weather again this winter. I intend to place some hoops (maybe just PVC) over them along with greenhouse fabric that will drape to the ground. I can ten place the small heater and temp controller under them. And, lucky us, a few more chanterelles.
