Our Wandering Elk

A couple small herds of elk have been wandering by over the winter causing some minor problems. If you recall, a couple have decided jumping the fence into the orchard was their right, and they have done some small damage to the apple trees as well as pretty much trashing the Kiowa blackberry bush located in there. We haven't yet fenced our tea as the elk seem to mostly ignore it. We also have had lots of vole problems so have let the weeds grow up along with the tea to give the voles more plants to eat that are, hopefully, not tea. We still plan to trench around the tea plots and put in a rock barrier which is the other reason we haven't put up fences. But the elk do trample some plants as they wander through, and occasionally sample a plant or two (pretty much eating the entire thing). A video below with me encouraging them to get out of the tea, and a trail cam video of them beside the aqua house.
